MISSION STATEMENT CHAPTER PROGRAMS

AIA Monterey Bay represents more than 120 pracitioners in Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties. Our mission is to improve the quality of life and the built environment in the Monterey Bay area and the Salinas Valley by promoting architecture and design that is sensitive to the user, community and the environment. We further this goal through community involvement, education, advocacy, public outreach, member service, and professional excellence.

AIA Monterey Bay promotes excellence in architecture by coordinating a biennial design awards program and monthly programs for its members and members of the public. AIA Monterey Bay co-sponsors public events such as the Sandcastle Contest in Carmel, community design competitions and a speakers bureau for schools and community groups. AIA Monterey Bay educates its members about the latest advances in building methods and materials, innovative design solutions, governmental regulations and codes and the legalities of the professional practice.

AIA Monterey Bay Design Charettes are held to provide professional help to local agencies, cities and others. These events occur throughout the year for the benefit of the public and to allow local architects to contribute their unique abilities and skills.

AIA Monterey Bay Traveling Public Awareness Display is exhibited throughout the Tri-County area to acquaint the public with the unique and varied work of local professional architects associated with the American Institute of Architects.

AIA Monterey Bay Client Referral Service categories of architectural projects are listed, along with names of AIAMB member firms specializing in those categories.

AIA Monterey Bay Awards for Excellence in Architectural Design Program is a biennial award program to acknowledge the exceptional effort to produce excellent architecture required by the architect, client and contractor. The Citation Award recognizes exceptional design features in a building; the Award of Merit recognizes overall design quality, and the Honor Award designates those projects worthy of emulation by other architects.
